The Colorful Mountain, Rainbow Mountain, or Vinincunca tour is recommended for people who love hiking and mountains. It is a physically demanding route that ascends from 3,350 meters above sea level to 5,038 meters above sea level.
🦯To start the tour, we will pick you up from your accommodation between 4:20 a.m. and 4:30 a.m., then we will head to the district of Cusipata, where we will make our first stop to enjoy a delicious breakfast and use the restrooms.
🦯We will continue our journey along the Cusipata branch line, where we will ascend into the mountains for 1 hour until we reach the starting point of our hike. Along the route, we will be able to observe some communities in the Cusipata district that still practice agriculture and livestock farming. The area has a variety of flora, fauna, and spectacular geographical formations.
🦯Upon arriving at the station, we will begin our hike to Vinincunca Mountain, which will take 1 hour and 40 minutes (at a slow pace). The other way to reach the mountain is by horseback, which takes 50 minutes. Riding a horse is optional and is offered by the local people.
🦯During the hike, we will observe the typical flora and fauna of the Peruvian Andes, including llamas, alpacas, and some Andean birds. Upon reaching the viewpoint of Vinicunca Mountain or Rainbow Mountain (5038 meters above sea level), our guide will explain the orography, ecosystem, and color of the mountain. We will also take advantage of the moment to observe the Vinincunca mountain range, take souvenir photos, and admire the beautiful landscape. Then we will return along the same path to the point where we started the hike, where our transport will be waiting to take us back to Cusipata, where we will enjoy a buffet lunch. After lunch, we will begin the return trip to the city of Cusco, arriving at 4:30 p.m. The final stop will be the main square or an agreed-upon location.
Horses: Renting a horse costs between 90 and 100 soles ($25 and $30 USD).
Photographs: photos with locals and animals for a tip of approximately 5 soles ($2 USD).
The tour to the Mountain of Seven Colors in Cusco is considered a moderate to challenging hike.
It involves a bus ride of approximately 2 hours, followed by an uphill hike of 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours to reach the summit of Vinicunca at 5,036 meters above sea level. The descent is another 2-hour hike.
You should bring comfortable walking shoes, light and warm clothing, a waterproof jacket, a hat, gloves, sunglasses, sunscreen, a small backpack, a camera, snacks, and bottled water.

The number of people on the group tour is usually up to 17, but on occasion the number may be reduced.

If the cancellation of the Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain tour is made within 72 hours of booking the tour, no refund will be given.
